Priyadarshan Declines to Direct "Hera Pheri 3" as Akshay Kumar Expresses Interest in Revival

 But the "Hera Pheri" franchise has been a fixture of Indian comedy cinema for ages, with its memorable characters and plotlines. The First film, made in 2000, was directed by Priyadarshan and starred Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal. Over the years, fans have been clamoring for a third entry that would bring the original team back together.

However, there have been many speculations about Priyadarshan returning to direct the third installment of the film, with Akshay Kumar essaying his Raju avatar yet again. But Priyadarshan has publicly opened up about it. "I cannot work in comfortable territory; it kills my creativity," he said in an interview. That's the reason I refused Hera Pheri 2's offer. I am done with Hera Pheri in my life. That chapter is closed for me."


Through this statement, Priyadarshan has suggested he is not interested in making another "Hera Pheri." Instead, he will be busy with new projects like a supernatural thriller opposite Akshay Kumar. The upcoming film can be best described as a paranormal thriller, where viewers will be made to wonder perfunctorily until the end whether a ghost exists , Priyadarshan said while explaining the film. This is both Akshay and me's first time in uncharted territory."

For his part, Akshay Kumar wished to continue the "Hera Pheri" legacy. Earlier, he mentioned that he walked out of "Hera Pheri 3" because of differences with the makers regarding the creative direction. He said, "The film was presented to me, and I was told about it. But the screenplay, script , and everything, I was not satisfied, not happy with it. I have to do what people would like to watch, so I backed off."


This rift in vision between the film's original director and one of its lead actors has put the future of "Hera Pheri 3" in limbo. Although fans fervently await a reunion of the original squad, all available information indicates that Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar are independently seeking fresh project opportunities.
