Linda Cardellini Joins Jason Bateman and David Harbour in HBO's DTF St. Louis
Linda Cardellini has officially joined Jason Bateman and David Harbour in the upcoming HBO limited series DTF St. Louis. Created by Steve Conrad (The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Patriot), the seven-episode series blends dark comedy and emotional drama, exploring a chaotic middle-aged love triangle that ends with a murder.
The story focuses on three adults grappling with personal crises and strained relationships. Cardellini plays Carol, a pivotal character whose complex emotional journey intersects with the turmoil of the two male leads, portrayed by Bateman and Harbour. The title, derived from the slang acronym "down to f***," reflects the edgy and unconventional nature of the narrative .
Creative Team and Production
Steve Conrad serves as writer, director, and showrunner, bringing his distinct storytelling style to the series. Bateman and Harbour are also executive producers, alongside Conrad and a team of industry veterans, including Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch under Escape Artists, and Michael Costigan for Aggregate Films .
The series originated from HBO's development of My Dentist’s Murder Trial, based on a New Yorker article by James Lasdun. However, the project evolved into an original concept, departing from its true-crime roots while retaining its dark, provocative themes .
HBO's Commitment to Bold Storytelling
DTF St. Louis adds to HBO’s robust lineup of innovative programming, including the much-anticipated second season of The Last of Us and The White Lotus. HBO's executive vice president of programming, Francesca Orsi, praised the series for its emotional depth and unique voice, highlighting the strong creative synergy among Conrad, Bateman, Harbour, and Cardellini .
While no release date has been announced, the show is expected to generate significant buzz for its daring content and A-list cast. Fans of dark humor and dramatic storytelling will undoubtedly look forward to seeing how DTF St. Louis unfolds.
